Celebration of Rex’s Life will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday August 29, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. There will be no burial. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm Thursday until service time at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Oblong Fire Department for Equipment. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.
Rex. E. Bolin, 81, of Oblong, IL passed away on Saturday August 24, 2019 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.
Rex was born in Humbolt, IL on May 14, 1938 to Horace Earl Bolin and Floetta (Eastin) Bolin. On April 16, 1995 he married LaJean Clough (who grew up in Willow Hill and is a member of the Newton High School Class of 1965) who survives.
He had served in the Unites States Marines and had worked at Great Dane Trailers in Terre Haute, IN for many year before retiring in 2003. Rex enjoyed woodworking and building anything. He also collected ball caps. Rex was known as the “the best neighbor anyone could have” as he was always willing to lend a helping hand and he never met a stranger. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Rex is survived by his wife; son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Carol Bolin, California; three daughters and sons-in-law Julie and Mike Meeks, California, Cynthia Bolin, Massachusetts and Brooke Forggetting, California; step son Don Bergbower and Heidi, Deerbrook, WI, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law Joyce and Oland Summers, Shelby, NC and Susie and Jerry Kraemer, Dennison, IL.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two children.
